Summer 2015: Library Renewal Updates

*********************************
There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

The Library Renewal project is moving ahead and, in preparation, the Library is moving computers, some collections and study spaces from the East (Crosland Tower) to the West (Price Gilbert). Here is a list of resources that are being relocated this summer:

  • Computers from the Library East Commons are being moved to the Library West Commons and 2nd floor West.
  • Print collections from 4th floor West will be temporarily moved to the Crosland Tower. Call Number signs near the elevators and the online catalog are being updated to reflect the new locations. Don’t hesitate to ask at the Library Service Desk if you need help finding anything!
  • The Popular Reading, Graphic Novels, and DVD collections have been moved from 1st floor West to the 2nd floor West.
  • An “Expert Consultation Center” pilot has been set up in the 1st floor West space formerly known as the Gilbert Lounge (Popular Reading). The “Expert Consultation Center” is a place to connect with subject librarians and other research experts to get support so you can do your best work. After hours, the space is open to student groups who need a place to get work done. Note the Expert Consultation space includes LCD screens and a mediascape table.
