President G.P. “Bud” Peterson has appointed an advisory group to review Georgia Tech’s student judicial process and procedures.

The committee has been charged with examining the current individual and organizational conduct policies with a particular focus on the processes and procedures to ensure they are consistent with the best practices in place across the University System of Georgia and the country. The overarching purpose of the review is to ensure students and recognized student organizations receive fair and equitable treatment and protections under Tech’s Student Code of Conduct.

President Peterson has asked Nels Peterson (no relation), chief legal officer and secretary to the University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents, to chair the working group. Other members include:

  • Douglass Covey, vice president, Student Affairs, Georgia State University.
  • Reginald DesRoches, chair, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
  • Laura Hollengreen, assistant provost, Academic Advocacy and Conflict Resolution.
  • Trenton Kilby, chief justice, Student Government Association’s Undergraduate Judicial Council.
  • Gary Wolovick, managing attorney, Georgia Tech Legal Affairs.

The advisory group’s review has already begun; completion is anticipated within the next four weeks.
