giovanni cirecellaGiovanni Circella joined the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) in Atlanta, GA as a Research Engineer in November 2013. He currently shares his time between Georgia Tech and the University of California, Davis where he works as a part-time researcher at the Institute of Transportation Studies (ITS). Prior to joining Georgia Tech, he worked for several years as a post-doc researcher at UC Davis, where he developed several research projects and was central to the transportation modeling activities of the Urban Land Use and Transportation (ULTRANS) Center.
Dr. Circella’s research interests and skills include travel behavior analysis, transportation planning, travel demand modeling, land use planning and modeling, travel survey methods, transportation sustainability, energy consumption, and policy analysis. He is an expert in the collection and analysis of behavioral data and the estimation of discrete choice models and other quantitative methodologies. His recent research activity has focused, in particular, on the impact of personal attitudes and preferences on travel choices, the relationships between land use and travel behavior, the analysis of energy consumption associated with different land use patterns, the impact of information and telecommunication technology (ICT) on mobility patterns, and the mobility of young adults (“millennials”).
