A Dutch art journal approached Prof. Philip Auslander about writing a piece for a special issue on artists' personae. He has written fairly extensively about the concept of persona in relation to other kinds of performance, particularly popular music.

The essay entitled "On the Concept of Persona in Performance" traces his use of the concept of persona across thirty years and multiple artistic and performance disciplines, ending up with Lady Gaga. He has written two previous essays on Gaga, one which has been published, the other of which is due out by the end of the year.
