The Science Fiction Film as Cult Text has recently been published in August of 2015 by Liverpool University Press as part of the specialized Liverpool Science Fiction Texts and Studies series.. Edited by Professor Jay Telotte with Gerald Duchovnay of Texas A&M, this volume explores the heretofore overlooked intersections between science fiction and the cult film. The book was published

Organized into three areas of investigation, the book examines how different genre elements, director, and stars contribute to cult formation; the role that fan activities, including “con” participation, play in cult development; and how “occulted” or bad science fiction texts function in a cult content. The aim is to demonstrate both the science fiction aspects of much cult activity and the cultish aspects of the entire science fiction film genre.
