Summaries

Summary Sentence: Members want to expand Institute's outreach to students

Full Summary: No summary paragraph submitted.

The Student Advisory Council of the Institute for Materials will host an ice cream social in order to introduce more students to the work of the Institute on behalf of students in various areas of materials science.

The event will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Parker H. Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience atrium, 315 Ferst Dr. NW.

The social is just one aspect of the service provided to IMat by the SAC.

"These students are really the face of the Institute," said David L. McDowell, IMat's executive director. "They provide critical feedback to us directly from the student body on how better we can do our job to assist them throughout their time here at Georgia Tech. This event really serves as an introductio, a chance to get to know one another. It helps us formulate our goals for student outreach in the coming year."

RSVP is REQUIRED. Click here to register. In addition to ice cream there will be several giveaways. The social is free.

For more information about the Institute, visit www.materials.gatech.edu and watch for our newly designed web site coming in October.
