In collaboration with OIT and the Department of Housing, all residence halls will soon have upgraded network distribution equipment. This major project will allow for increased bandwidth usage in each building with redundant 10 Gigabit network uplinks to the campus backbone and higher reliability due to the use of Cisco enterprise networking hardware. Please note that these upgrades may improve end-user connectivity speeds during times of peak usage, but will not increase maximum attainable speeds.

Over the next several months, network switches will be upgraded one region of campus at a time. The upgrades will begin in 10th & Home Family/Graduate Housing over Fall Break and will continue with East Campus over winter break with the rest of Housing to follow. Specific timelines and outage dates will be posted on our website in advance so that you can plan ahead.

You will recieve and email from the Department of Housing with specific outage times when your building is scheduled for this network upgrade. If you have any questions, please feel free to send us an email or submit a help request on our website
