There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. How are questions in the classroom regarded in your home country? Are students encouraged to ask questions? Do teachers enjoy answering questions? How do teachers in your country use questions - to check comprehension, to challenge ideas, to encourage discussion?
Bring your lunch and your ideas to this brown bag discussion for international GT teaching assistants. We will explore cultural approaches and expectations of the use of questions in teaching and learning. We will also discuss and share ideas about answering questions as impromptu speech. Approaches and strategies to deliver unscripted language and to build confidence will be part of this lively discussion.
