Ayanna Howard has been named to The Root 100 2015, a list of 100 African-Americans ages 25 to 45 who are responsible for the year’s most significant moments, movements, and ideas. The Root is the premier news, opinion, and culture website for African-American influencers.

Howard placed at #92 on the list and was recognized for her innovations in robotics research and education. She was also lauded for her work as founder and chief technology officer at Zyrobotics, a startup company focused on robotics education and assistive technologies, especially as they relate to children with disabilities.

A faculty member in the Georgia Tech School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) since 2005, Howard holds the Linda J. and Mark C. Smith Chair in Bioengineering and leads the Human-Automation Systems Lab. Before coming to Tech, she worked with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where she led robotic projects utilizing vision, fuzzy logic, and neural network methodologies.
