Symposium on the Future of Manufacturing
Organized by Georgia Tech and Arts et Métiers ParisTech
Arts et Métiers ParisTech (AMPT) is the French leading engineering school in the domain of advanced manufacturing. AMPT is a member of the European platform EFFRA, factory of the future, in the core group of the French team building the European Knowledge Innovation Community‘s added Value Manufacturing. AMPT has built an alliance with the CEAtech and Cetim to accelerate both the lab-to-market time and the formation of workers adapted for the new industry challenges.
Georgia Tech President, Dr. G.P. “Bud” Peterson, was appointed by the White House to the Advanced Manufacturing Partnership (AMP) Steering Committee. AMP is an initiative designed to reinvigorate the U.S. manufacturing competitiveness and to create high-quality jobs, through public-private partnership.
Georgia Tech and Arts et Métiers have developed very strong ties since 1997, particularly through their respective campuses in Lorraine, both in education (double degree programs) and in research (Open Lab PSA Peugeot Citroën; GT-CNRS-UMI 2958 joint international laboratory).
Objective
The objective is to bring together thought leaders and researchers from academia and industry in the rapidly changing field of manufacturing to 1) share their experiences both in research, development, innovation, industry partnerships, and education, 2) identify key questions and path forward through focused workshops and 3) leverage their mutual strength to create new opportunities for joint collaborations both in US and Europe.
Date
The event will take place October 28 during France-Atlanta 2015. France-Atlanta is organized annually by the French Consulate in Atlanta and Georgia Tech under the auspices of the Embassy of France in the United States and the Governor’s office of the State of Georgia. It consists of a series of events in four categories: scientific, business, artistic, and humanitarian.
