Georgia Trend magazine recognized Sam Nunn in its “30 Years of Influence” feature, which spotlights 30 of Georgia’s most influential leaders in business, government, nonprofit work, philanthropy, education, and the arts.
Nunn, a distinguished professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, was praised in the feature for “embracing a solidly bipartisan approach to politics” and being a “respected authority on foreign policy and defense.”
Nunn represented Georgia in the U.S. Senate for 24 years, and his major legislative achievements include the Department of Defense Reorganization Act and the Nunn-Lugar Act of 1991. In addition to his professorship, Nunn currently serves as CEO and co-chairman of the Nuclear Threat Initiative in Washington, D.C.
Other Georgia luminaries recognized in the feature were Georgia Tech President G.P. "Bud" Peterson, President Jimmy Carter, Arthur Blank, and John Lewis.
