There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

Join us for this brainstorming think tank where we will explore the ubiquitous Minecraft (yes, that game you can’t get your kids to stop playing) as a platform for engagement with our civic, education, and industry research partners.
We will start with stories of what Minecraft is, some of the most interesting ways we’ve seen it used and extended for alternative purposes in education, civic engagement, as well as integrations and for content authoring and device control.
One example we will discuss is BlockHolm, where students in Stockholm engaged with civic planners to re-imagine their city’s sustainable future. We will brainstorm how students here could use Minecraft models and historical transportation and other data to understand and contribute to local and regional transportation planning and policies?
Finally, we are looking for members of the campus community with research interests and existing outreach which might inform, benefit, and/or contribute to future projects in this space. If you know someone, please invite them or be prepared to say a few sentences about how we might followup.
The Thursday Think Tank is a weekly gathering of the IPaT community to brainstorm about research, and stay informed about the work that everyone is doing. Come interact with colleagues and engage on topics of shared interest. Ideas for future Thursday Think Tanks? Send comments or suggestions to Russ Clark (russ.clark@oit.gatech.edu) or Maribeth Gandy (maribeth@imtc.gatech.edu)
