Hedwig and the Angry Inch: 2001 American musical comedy-drama based on the stage musical about a fictional rock band fronted by an East German transgender woman singer who survives a botched vaginoplasty performed to allow him to marry an American man and escape East Germany, only to get dumped a few months later. Hedwig then develops a relationship with a younger man becoming his mentor only to have him steal his music. The film explores Hedwig's complex gender identity. Music and lyrics are by Stephen Trask.
