This summer 23 students participated in Fun Summer of Service! Fun Summer of Service (FSOS) is a two-week summer program for rising 9th through 12th grade Meadowcreek High School students. The program provides various opportunities for the students to earn community hours at various non-profit organizations throughout the Metro Atlanta area such as Books for Africa, Furkids, and SWEEAC (a mobile food distribution organization), just to name a few. The students even participated in a videoconference with students from the ECO-STEAM summer camp in Puerto Rico learning how to make organic soaps that were later donated to residents in an assisted living community. The program included visits to the Kennesaw and Georgia State college campuses to learn about their admission procedures and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) majors offered. The main goal of the program is to promote a willingness to serve others and giving back to the community while learning leadership, communication, and team building skills. This program also helps students be well-rounded and gain valuable experiences that increases their college going opportunities.
