By combining information about power plant operation with real-time air quality predictions, researchers at Georiga Tech have created the Air Pollutant Optimization Model to minimize the human health effects of air pollution caused by power plants. School of Economics Assistant Professor Juan Moreno-Cruz was a part of the research team that wrote "A New Approach for Optimal Electricity Planning and Dispatching with Hourly Time-Scale Air Quality and Health Considerations," which was published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences this week. For more information, please see the article published by Georgia Tech here.
