Full Summary: Karen Yiu, the Coordinator for Student Diversity Programs, will meet with us over dinner to speak and answer questions about building community. She previously worked at Tech as a graduate assistant while earning her Master’s degree in College Student Affairs Administration from the University of Georgia. She holds her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and moved to Hong Kong after graduation to teach at Hong Kong Shue Yan University with the Princeton in Asia program. After a few years of working and traveling around Asia, Karen returned to Michigan and worked at a high school in southwest Detroit before moving to the southeast for graduate school. At Tech, she advises the Asian American Student Association, oversees the recently implemented Diversity Ambassador program, and hosts the International Spouse group with the Women’s Resource Center and the Office of International Education. She also runs the Humans of Georgia Tech Tumblr and the GT Diversity social media accounts. The dinner is for WST Learning Community residents, WST mentors, and other interested GT students.
