You may have heard that, a US district court issued an opinion this week stating that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) failed to follow proper notice and comment procedures when creating the 17-month extension for Optional Practical Training (OPT) in certain STEM fields (commonly known as STEM OPT). The existing  STEM OPT rule will still be in place until February 12, 2016 to allow DHS to remedy the situation by publishing a new rule. So, STEM OPT is intact, and we will monitor the situation closely and will provide additional updates using iBuzz, OIE news feed on our website as well as targeted emails to Georgia Tech F-1 status authorized for an active period of OPT whenever new information is available. Please view the OPT FAQ for additional information.
