TITLE: Prof. Parker goes to DC: The Role of Engr. in Public Policy
SPEAKER: Professor Johne Parker
ABSTRACT:
Current advances in science and engineering increasingly require a multi-faceted approach best addressed by the collaboration of researchers from various technical disciplines. Interdisciplinary research is no longer a novel concept; collaborations across complementary technical disciplines have become common and will continue to be increasingly important. However, many of our
current technical challenges are also coupled with complex legal, societal and policy issues; these problems will best be solved by engineers who are also conversant in the language of policy (and may be in collaboration with scholars who have a background in policy or law).
There are few better places to truly learn about public policy than our nation
