David Bader Deciphers 'Flops'

There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. Earlier this week, President Obama signed an executive order creating the National Strategic Computing Initiative, a vast effort at creating supercomputers at exaflop scales. Cool. An exaflop-scale supercomputer is capable of 1018 floating point operations (FLOPS) per second, which is a whole lot of FLOPS.
