There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

WHO: Dr. Khaled Ahmed, Technology Strategy & Development, Intel Corporation
WHEN: Thursday, August 6 @ 1:00 PM
WHERE: MRDC 3515 (Hightower Conference Room)
ABSTRACT:
With the rapid growth of technology in the last few decades, the thrust in research of materials has seen a sharp rise. This has led to the discovery of numerous new materials with unique applications/functions which may be broadly classified under the umbrella of “emerging materials”. Examples include In-Ga-Zn-O, Graphene, and Carbon Nanotubes. As mobile devices become more ubiquitous, both industry and academia are exploring new materials, manufacturing equipment and methods for making new and improved display components for such mobile devices. Flexible Display components include touch panel, flexible substrate, and light emitting diodes. This talk will focus on the challenges facing researchers to develop new materials to accelerate the high volume manufacturing of low power flexible displays for mobile applications.
