No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Beginning July 13, 2015, employees will be able to begin enrolling their same sex spouse in coverage in the University System of Georgia (USG) benefits plans. The effective date of the coverage will be backdated to June 26 or July 1, based upon employee preference, for same sex marriages occurring June 26 or prior. Employees will have until September 1 to register the change and provide documentation.
Also, beginning July 13, employees who marry a same sex spouse after June 26 will be able to enroll their spouse in USG benefits coverage by following the family status change procedures already in place for the USG benefits plans. Documentation will be required to verify eligibility for coverage.
Employees should visit the USG's main benefits page for the most up-to-date information related to the ruling. Enrollment instructions, coverage information, and FAQs will be available beginning July 13 on the USG website.
