National Engineer's Week is held every year in February to celebrate the engineering profession and the contributions of engineers in our communities. This year's E-Week is from February 18th to 22nd and marks the 62nd anniversary of Engineer's Week, or E-Week for short.

Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honor society, organizes multiple events every year for the entire campus to participate in. These events are designed to promote teamwork, creativity, and fun. So come out to any or all of our eight E-Week events this year and learn something new while having fun!

Events this year

"Introduce a Girl to Engineering" eWeek event at Ivy Prep

As part of National Engineers Week's "Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day," Women in Engineering will go to Ivy Preparatory Academy in Norcross on February 21st and talk to approximately 460 girls in sixth through 10th grades about careers in engineering, the schooling involved to be an engineer and about what it's like to be a woman engineer.  WIE staff and volunteers replace their regular science class periods with fun engineering activities designed to peak student interest in various engineering disciplines.

Lockheed Martin Engineering Challenge

Event date:  Th, Feb 21, 2013

Event time:  7-9:00pm

Location:  Guggenheim 442

Student of all years -- no experience necessary -- will work in teams to solve a real-world engineering problem given out by Lockheed Martin.  There will be Lockheed Martin representatives at the event to help facilitate.

Interested students should sign up in the AE Academic Office, Montgomery Knight Room 312 with name, email and year in school.  The sign-up sheet will be available in the Academic Office after 9:30am on Monday, 2/11/13 until 12 noon on Tuesday, Feb 19.  Free pizza for all and prizes for the winners!

 Monday, 18 Feb

E-Fair:  11am-5pm, Skiles

Can-Struction:  5:30-8pm, Klaus 2447

CanStruction is a philanthropy event in which students will construct towers/ sculptures out of cans that will then be donated to the Atlanta Food Bank.  We will have cans on site and will ask that participants cover a small portion of their cost.  The prize here will be a gift basket of some sort and free pizza will be provided.

 Tuesday, 19 Feb

Paper Airplane:  11am-2pm, CULC Roof

This is your one and only chance to throw something off of the roof of the CULC with the blessing of the GT administration.  Students will construct paper airplanes out of cardboard that will then be released off the roof of the CULC.  Judges will determine the winners.

Sky Floater:  4-7pm, DM Smith 105

Participants will be asked to construct things onto which helium balloons are attached.  Numerous tasks will have to be achieved (ie. allow the balloon to remain floating three feet above the ground).

 Wednesday, 20 Feb

Humpty Dumpty:  11:30am-3:30pm, Bobby Dodd Stadium

Participants will be asked to construct cradles for eggs to be dropped off the north end of the stadium.  There will be an elementary school field trip attending this event to demonstrate to potential engineers how much fun can be had as an engineering student.

Movie Night:  5-8:00pm,  Howey L1

Tau Beta Pi will be showing Iron Man II.  Free popcorn and refreshments will be provided.

 Thursday, 21 Feb

Comedy Night:  7-9pm, CULC

 Laughing Skull comedians will come and perform.  Free Chick-fil-A will be provided.

 Friday, 22 Feb

Rubik's Cube:  11am-5pm, Student Center Table 3 & 4

How fast are you?  Participants will be challenged to see how quickly they can solve one of the world's most famous puzzles.
