There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. It was announced before the weekend that all U.S. embassy and consulate posts are back online and are working quickly to schedule visa interviews for nonimmigrant visas. The Department of State is working as quickly as possible to get through the backlog of cases caused by the hardware glitch. Consular staff worked over the weekend and hope that the backlog will be gone by early this week.
If you had been advised to wait to schedule an appointment, please check travel.state.gov for the latest information on appointment wait times at specific posts. You can find the latest update from the Department of State here.
