The AE School lost a great teacher and colleague with the passing of Professor William T. Mikolowsky on Tuesday, July 24, 2012. As the Professor of the Practice, he touched the lives of many generations of our undergraduate students through his Capstone Senior Design sequence, Intro to AE, and Vehicle Performance classes. His lectures were peppered with inspiring examples from his distinguished career at Lockheed Martin as the Chief Engineer for the C-130J program.
Dr. Mikolowsky had a bachelor, masters and doctorate degree from Georgia Tech in Aerospace Engineering. He also held an MBA from Stanford University. Dr. Mikolowsky retired from Lockheed after 33 years of service where he was known as the "Father of the C130J". After retiring from Lockheed, he became a Professor at the Georgia Tech School of AE and was the author of many publications, over the course of his career.
Dr. Mikolowsky was an avid pilot and a civil war buff.
