Corporate members and invited guests will convene at the Institute of Paper Science and Technology (IPST) in early February for a workshop designed to address the forest bioproducts industry outlook more than 20 years into the future.
The workshop, entitled “A 20-Year Outlook for the Forest Bioproducts Industry: Implications Challenges, Opportunities,” will address potential trends and research tracks that may affect the demand for forest bioproducts by 2035. The participants will evaluate existing forecasts and economic trends and develop future scenarios for further study. The outcomes of the workshop will help form IPST's research agenda and provide the basis for part of the program at the IPST annual Executive Conference April 18-19, 2013.
“This is a unique endeavor that we believe will provide meaningful insight for our members who may be looking for long-term asset utility,” said IPST director Norman Marsolan. “While no one can specifically predict markets in 2035, there are clues available based on current research and other economic or business forecasts. Many of those clues may come from right here at Georgia Tech, which has an amazing array of research projects at any time.”
