kosal_teachingawardOn Friday, April 20th, Nunn School Assistant Professor Margaret E. Kosal was awarded the 2015 CETL/BP Junior Faculty Teaching Excellence Award.
Kosal’s teaching was recognized for her ability to enable students to understand the context in which technology and policy choices affect the real world. She was recognized for “empowering her students to understand the interactive causal, intervening, and determinant roles at play among science, technology, and policy that are necessary for solving the issues of today and in the future. In encouraging her students to explore, understand, and explain the multi-fold connections between technology and policy, Dr. Kosal is developing in her students the capacity to lead as well as understand.”
The CETL/BP Junior Faculty Teaching Excellence Award, offered through the joint support of the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL) and BP America, provides Georgia Tech with the opportunity to highlight excellent teaching and the educational innovation that Junior Faculty bring to campus as they discover new knowledge through their research and choose teaching methods that make their knowledge accessible, applicable, and exciting to the learners they connect with in their classrooms and beyond. Recipients of this award demonstrate educational innovations; impact on students' lives, both in and beyond the classroom; passion about teaching and learning; connections between research and teaching; educational outreach beyond the classroom; teaching excellence in core classes, required classes, and large classes; and good Georgia Tech citizenship.
Kosal is also one of six Georgia Tech faculty currently highlighted on the front page of the Georgia Institute of Technology homepage as part of the “Listen as Six Stellar Faculty Share Their Teaching Strategies” video feature.
