Georgia Tech’s HomeLab initiative provides the capability to conduct in-home research that supports the development of innovative technologies that promote health, wellness, and independence for older adults. HomeLab was created to 1) assess device safety, efficacy, effectiveness, usability, and accessibility, 2) perform research to inform concept development and innovation, and 3) conduct ethnographic research about the unmet needs, aspirations, and latent demands of older adults.
HomeLab brings together a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers and a community of older adults interested in participating in research. The Think Tank will include discussion of recent research projects such as the AARP activity tracker study, hand tool human performance modeling, and ethnographic research to support food packaging innovation.
