Topic: Research needs for healthtech startups
Healthcare represents nearly 18% of the United States’ economy, and is currently undergoing a much needed technology-based transformation. This is being led by large companies and healthtech startups that are disrupting everything from cumbersome patient experiences to convoluted revenue models. What makes healthcare unique in comparison to other industries that were positively transformed by technology (travel, banking, retail etc.) is that changing status co in healthcare requires outcomes data, in addition to showing ROI. While large companies have access to resources that can support the generation of such data (consulting firms, multi-year sponsored trials) health tech startups often find themselves at a disadvantage in this area. The focus of this Think Tank will be to explore how local academic institutions can support the early stage healthtech startup community in achieving their unique research goals.
