There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

Unmanned aerial systems company 3D Robotics (3DR) is partnering with the School of Building Construction’s CONECTech Lab on research to explore the impact of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology in the architecture, engineering, construction, and facility management domain. This is a timely collaboration given the increased availability of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) technology for the consumer market.
Many industries are interested in using the technology, but there is no empirical evidence of the impact of the technology in commercial applications. CONECTech Lab will perform experiments with 3DR’s IRIS+ UAS Platform at several construction sites in the Atlanta area to collect data on their performance during jobsite related tasks. Lessons learned will help determine the best use cases for UAS/UAV technology in the AEC+FM industry as well as contribute to the development of industry specific UAS products.
Dr. Irizarry’s research collaboration with the Associated General Contractors, Georgia Chapter receives national attention in recent article.
