RBI Associate Director Chris Luettgen recently took his seat as Chair of the Technological Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI) during the organization's centennial celebration in April.

The Board consists of the Chair, Vice Chair, President/CEO and nine Directors who determine the policies and have general charge of the affairs of the Association.

"I am very honored to have been selected to lead the board of this organization," Luettgen said. “I am the fourth generation in a family that has worked and thrived in the paper industry, and I am very proud to be a member of TAPPI, just as my father was before me. It is an exciting time in the pulp and paper arena, full of both challenges and opportunities. I look forward to serving with this talented group of board members as TAPPI builds upon its first 100 years of leadership and ingenuity." 

 Paul Durocher of Sappi Fine Paper North America will serve as TAPPI Vice Chair for two years beginning in April 2015. 

Luettgen is also a professor of the practice in the School of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering and director of the Georgia Tech Professional Education Industry Strategic Partnerships/Professional Masters in Manufacturing Leadership.

Medwick V. Byrd, North Carolina State University, Anitra Collins, International Paper, and Marko Hakovirta, Stora Enso AB, will begin three-year terms in April 2015.

The following individuals will continue to serve on the TAPPI Board: Peter R. Augustine, Fabio Perini North America, Kirt J. Cuevas, International Paper, Robert A. Feeser, MWV, Christopher A. Krumm, CorrChoice, Div. of Greif LLC, Larry N. Montague, TAPPI, Frank J. Sutman, Solenis, and Clayton Teague.

The 2014 TAPPI Nominating Committee members included: Norman Marsolan, Renewable Bioproducts Institute (Chair), Roger Brear, Domtar, Glenn Hanson, Industrial Kiln & Dryer Group, Chris Luettgen, Georgia Tech, James Haeffele, SCA Tissue North America, Larry N. Montague, TAPPI, Janet Neighbors, International Paper, Nicki Slusser, Jackson Paper.
