Last week, a group of researched from the Interactive Product Design Lab traveled to the International Symposium on Wearable Computers in Seattle, Washington to present their work on Ballet Hero- a garment created for adult beginners of ballet. It provides visual feedback to the wearer that coveys errors in the essential movements of ballet.
Ballet Hero was showcased in the conference’s Design Exhibition at the Experience Music Project in Downtown Seattle, and won the Jury Award for Best Functional Design. The design exhibition included a display of the interactive garment prototype, as well video footage showcased on a 3-story tall screen in the EMP’s “Sky Church.”After ISWC, the garment was moved to Microsoft Studio 99 gallery where it will displayed alongside other ISWC designs for the next 6 weeks.
