Georgia eyes making self-driving cars street legal

There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. Georgia lawmakers could introduce legislation this winter that would trigger research and development in a technology that promises to revolutionize transportation.

The Peach State could become the fifth state to make self-driving cars street-legal. By opening up its roads and highways to self-driving cars, Georgia could tap jobs and investment from a growing ecosystem of tech companies and automakers that are developing autonomous driving technologies.
