Congratulations to Georgia Tech Assistant Professor, Dr. Alexander Lerch, who is serving as a 2015-2016 DAAD Research Ambassador for the Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dientst (Germany Academic Exchange Service). DAAD Research Ambassadors are scholars and scientists in North America who have conducted advanced long-term research projects in Germany and are interested in promoting research in Germany at their home universities and among their peers and students.
Dr. Lerch works on the design of new digital signal processing algorithms for music analysis and synthesis. Lerch studied Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Berlin and Tonmeister at the University of Arts Berlin and received his Diplom-Ingenieur degree and his PhD in 2000 and 2008, respectively. He was recipient of a DAAD post-doctoral fellowship for a research stay at the University of Victoria (Canada) in 2010. Alexander Lerch is co-founder of the Berlin-based company zplane.development – a research-driven technology provider for the music industry. His book "An Introduction to Audio Content Analysis: Applications in Signal Processing and Music Informatics" was published in 2012 by Wiley/ IEEE Press.
