Valerie B. Johnson, a second year Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow, wrote "Ecomedievalism: Applying Ecotheory to Medievalism and Neomedievalism, "and Richard Utz, LMC Chair, wrote "Medievalism Studies and the Subject of Religion."

The volume, which was edited by Karl Fugelso, Vincent Ferré, and Alicia C. Montoya and includes seven additional essays, has an ambitious agenda:

  • Define medievalism's margins and its role in marginalizing other fields, ideas, people, places, and events
  • Provide tools and models for exploring those issues
  • Indicate new subjects to which they might apply.
