There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. Sandfish lizard

A native of the Sahara Desert, the sandfish lizard swims through dry sand using wave motion of its body. Georgia Tech researchers compared its swimming to that of the shovel-nosed snake, which has a different body plan. (Credit: Gary Meek)
