Browning, in conjunction with co-editor Judith B. Kerman, presents a collection of essays that explores the use of fastastic story-telling in Holocaust literature and film and seeks to answer this question: "When reality becomes fantastic, what literary effects will render it credible or comprehensible?"
The collection includes a Foreword by Jane Yolen, a distinguished writer of science fiction, fantasy, and children's books (including the YA novel, The Devil's Arithmetic), and an essay by Carol Senf on the film version of Yolan's novel.
