Prof. Erik P. Johnson was invited to give a presentation to the Applied and Agricultural Economics Department at the University of Georgia.  He will present his paper "Teaching an Old Dog New Tricks: Firm Learning from Environmental Regulation," coauthored with Emily Galloway, a Ph.D. student in Georgia Tech's School of Economics.  The paper suggests that electricity generators may learn techniques to increase technical efficiency in response to additional environmental regulation and that these efficiency gains are transferred to other similar generators within the firm.
