There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

What is content strategy and how do you go about it?
These days, the Internet is bloated with billions upon billions of pieces of content. Text, images, videos, audio, ads, links, tweets, posts, likes, comments, blogs, emails… and on, and on, and on.
Web users are constantly bombarded by information, and their attention spans are getting shorter by the day.
So how do you cut through the clutter to get your message across?
In addition, websites that have been around for a while are usually overloaded with content, cumbersome to navigate and hard to maintain. What can you do to clean out the clutter and get back to a lean and mean website?
A blank canvas, and the thought of having to produce all new content often intimidate those tasked with creating new websites. Where and how do you start?
In this brownbag session, Georgia Tech Institute Communication’s Content Strategist, Jennifer Tomasino, will explain it all.
She will walk you step-by-step through the reasons and methods for creating a content strategy; and she will share tips and techniques for revising, creating and maintaining your website content.
