There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Summaries

Summary Sentence: Anubhav Bagley and Mike Alexander to speak on generating spatially disaggregated regional growth scenarios.

Full Summary: No summary paragraph submitted.

The Center for Geographical Information Systems (CGIS) is delighted to present a sequence of two presentations that offer an inside look at the various tools and technologies that regional governments use for their official forecasts. Increasingly, regional planning agencies across the U.S. are taking a lead role in providing long-range scenario planning for metropolitan futures. These scenarios offer critical information for various transportation and infrastructure plans for the region. Anubhav Bagley, Information Services Manager at Maricopa Association of Governments, will discuss the challenges and successes of generationing spatially disaggregated regional growth scenarios in a large urban region. The Atlanta Regional Commission has been developing its own regional simulation model based on the Production, Exchange and Consumption Allocation System (PECAS) framework. The experience with PECAS in Atlanta will be presented by Mike Alexander, the Research Division Manager of ARC and CGIS Advisory Board Member.
