Speaker Bio:
As Director Mobility Network OPS Centers for AT&T, Michael Salmon leads a team of eight managers and 157 employees responsible for 24x7 network operation support and network integration for the mobility data core network.  Michael’s team is the primary interface between network operations, network engineering, AT&T Labs, and a variety of vendor partners.  Michael and his team focus on first time isolation to resolve network issues across the mobility data core network and time to market for implementation and deployment to meet network capacity demands.

Since joining AT&T in 1996, Michael has held positions across Customer CARE, Network Operations, Network Security RF and Wireless Performance. Michael was recognized for developing the Customer CARE Quality Assurance Program in 1997 and the mobility ASPR (AT&T Security Policy Requirements) program in 2000. He was a member of the AT&T Wireless Tiger Team that helped to deploy the GSM network in 2003 and part of the team that deployed the first generation iPhone in 2007. Also, he served as a key contributor to a Fine EDGE Project that helped AT&T Wireless develop the fastest wireless mobility data network within the industry.

Michael is a proud member of AT&T’s patent family. He co-invented Mark the SPOT, an app for iPhone and Android devices, and invented WISE (AT&T WiFi Intelligent Selection Engine) app for Android windows devices. Additionally, he is the co-inventor of Estimating Achievable Download Speed from passive measurements across wireless data networks.

Michael was one of only 50 leaders across AT&T selected to participate in the 2011 Accelerated Development Program (ADP) – a year-long, intensive AT&T experience designed to advance business acumen and increase strategic perspective as preparation for future leadership opportunities.

Michael is an active member of AT&T’s Network Ambassador Program and a volunteer within AT&T Network Disaster Recovery Program.  He is a mentor to participants within AT&T’s Netrex and Corporate Leadership Development Programs.  Within the community, Michael is a member of the ATP Volunteer Board (Association of Telecommunications Professionals).
