Full Summary: No summary paragraph submitted.

Speakers: Sherwin Doroudi and Kristy Gardner

Sherwin and Kristy are two Ph.D. students from Carnegie Mellon University, currently visiting Georgia Tech to do research with Jim Xu in the College of Computing. Sherwin is a fifth year operations management student (at the Tepper School of Business) co-advised by Mor Harchol-Balter and Mustafa Akan, and Kristy is a third year computer science student advised by Mor Harchol-Balter. Their research involves a variety of scheduling and queueing problems (Markov chains, resource allocation, strategic and/or flexible customers/servers, etc.), with applications to problems in OR and CS. In this talk, first Sherwin, and then Kristy, will be giving back-to-back talks describing some of their recent research.
