Dr. Yasha Klots has been awarded the highly regarded Humboldt Research Fellowship for his project on Russian literature outside Russia. The German fellowship is awarded to highly qualified post-doctoral researchers from abroad with notable research accomplishments.

 This academic year, Klots will be working with the archival collections in Bremen, Germany, while writing his book on the literary culture of the Russian diaspora in the 1960-1980s. The goal of the fellowship is to facilitate the process of preparing a scholarly monograph for publication and to provide access to the unique materials held at the Research Center for East European Studies in Bremen.

 Klots is an Assistant professor of Russian in the School of Modern Languages where he teaches courses in Russian Literature. His research areas focuses on, émigré literature and culture, linguistic anthropology, bilingualism, literary translation, Gulag narratives, urbanism, the mythology of St. Petersburg and the representation of other cities in Russian literature.
