Seminar on French-English Immersion Education

Open to the public, this seminar will explore the objectives and advantages of early language learning in an immersion context to prepare children for an increasingly globalized world.

For its educational segment, France Atlanta 2014 is proud to partner with state and district education representatives from Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina as well as local educators to present a seminar on French-English immersion education in the Southeast. In 2013 and 2014, Georgia started three immersion programs. North and South Carolina both have three programs. With the recent development of this pedagogical approach in the Southeast, this seminar will help understand the objectives and advantages of early language learning in an immersion context to prepare children for an increasingly globalized world. It will also present the conditions to successfully start an immersion program and give a panorama of the different offerings in the three States.

The sessions on October 29 will be reserved for educators and will concentrate on the use of resources in French immersion programs at elementary levels.

When:

October 28: Presentations and Q&A, Open to the Public

  • Morning Session: “The Benefits of French-English Immersion Education & the Conditions to Start a Program”
  • Afternoon Session: “A Presentation of the French Dual-Immersion Programs in the Southeast”
