Major General Yaakov Ayish, Israel Defense and Armed Forces Attaché to the U.S. and Canada, held a private briefing on Operation Protective Edge at the Georgia Tech campus on August 27, 2014. Major General Ayish discussed the strategic, military, legal, and humanitarian implications of Operation Protective Edge. His briefing included multiple video clips that highlighted the strategic and tactical challenges that the Israel Defense Forces currently face, as well as the role of advanced technology in the conduct of the operation. This was followed by a “Chatham House Rule” Q&A session.

He has also held several other operational leadership positions during his military career, including as the Head of Operations Branch (J3) in the IDF General Staff, as well as the Ground Forces Command Chief of Staff during the Second Lebanon War.
