Summaries

Summary Sentence: The US & the UK share a language, so navigating the UK for Americans should be easy as kicking around the football or taking afternoon tea, right? Think again... When crossing borders, this common language can become trickier than one might assume.

Full Summary: In celebration of United Kingdom month this September, we’re cracking the code on American vs. English British. Whether you’re an English speaker native to the US or the UK, you want to be on the correct side of the road when it comes to conversing with natives while traveling abroad. Join in the conversation to break away from common language miscommunications for Americans traveling to the UK, and vice versa.

During the month of September, OIE will be featuring the United Kingdom as its Country of the Month. Spend the start of fall delving into American vs. British English language differences, enjoying Afternoon Tea with us, or showing off your knowledge of British Film & culture. There’s something here for everyone. Cheers!
