After collecting donations, organizing, cleaning, and staging, the Campus Closet is now open to lend students suits — just in time for the Fall Career Fair.

Campus Closet lets students borrow suits for up to a week at a time for any professional or job search activities. Students can also rent a white button-down shirt, Georgia Tech lapel pin, or padfolio to complete their ensemble.

Students are responsible for returning suits with proof of dry cleaning, which they can have done for free through the Career Fair at the Student Center’s new Hamper Haven with a voucher provided by Campus Closet.

Campus Closet began last year with a group of students who helped organize the first Jackets for Jackets drive to build the closet’s inventory. The idea for the program was conceived during conversations about student mental health and the stress that financial constraints can create for students. Campus Closet organizers had seen students dressed inappropriately at career and internship fairs and realized that, for some, it was simply because they could not afford a suit.

To borrow a suit, students can stop by the Campus Closet, located on the ground floor of the Bill Moore Student Success Center, next week at the following times:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 3, noon–5 p.m.
  • Thursday, Sept. 4, 8–11 a.m.
  • Friday, Sept. 5, 2–5 p.m.

Campus Closet also is continuing to accept donations to build its inventory. Suits can be donated at the Center for Career Discovery and Development on the first floor of the Bill Moore Student Success Center, or in Suite 322 of the Scheller College of Business.

The Fall 2014 Career Fair will be held Sept. 8-9 in the Campus Recreation Center. More information is available at www.career.gatech.edu/careerfair.
