Philip Auslander, professor in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication, was invited to address the relationship between the concepts of theater and performance at Rencontres Recherche et Création, a two-day event in Avignon, France, held in conjunction with the famous theater festival, le Festival D'Avignon and co-sponsored by the French Agence Nationale de la Recherche.
In addition, Auslander's essay "Surrogate Performances: Performance Documentation and the New York Avant-garde, ca. 1964-74" was published online by the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis in On Performance, the first volume of its Living Collections Catalogue, supported by the Getty Foundations Online Scholarly Catalogue Initiative. Auslander's contribution is currently being featured on the Walker's home page as a "Top Story" at http://www.walkerart.org.
