Peterson at Institute LafayetteOn May 26, a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the nearly completed building on the Georgia-Tech Lorraine campus was attended by Georgia Tech’s president, provost and other top officials from the university.
Institute Lafayette at the Georgia Tech campus in Lorraine, France, began as a teaching and research center but, under the guidance of its newly appointed President Bernard Kippelen, is about to become a central point for optoelectronics technology transfer and commercialization. Institute Lafayette houses offices, laboratories, and a 5,000-square-foot clean room, equipped with state-of-the art nano fabrication tools to support the innovations it is discovering in optoelectronics and advanced semiconductor materials research.
Also in attendance among the 350 guests were the U.S. consul general from Strasbourg, France, along with French officials from the Lorraine region and research and corporate partners.
