No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Georgia Tech will be closed Monday in observance of the Memorial Day holiday, and Georgia Tech is grateful to those who serve and whom the holiday honors.

Plenty of places around Atlanta will provide opportunities for those looking to make the most of their long weekend. Being in the center of the city, Tech students always have plenty of entertainment options, including this weekend and all summer long.

A few events around town this weekend:

  • Movies in Central Park: Atlantic Station hosts free weekly movie showings in its Central Park on Thursday evenings. Catch “Crazy, Stupid, Love” this week, or “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” on May 29. (continues through Aug. 7)
  • Atlanta Jazz Festival: One of the country’s largest free jazz festivals, held annually in Piedmont Park, will host up-and-coming and more established artists Friday through Sunday.
  • Momocon: Billed as welcoming "all kinds of geeks" — and started by Georgia Tech's anime club — this anime and gaming convention takes place downtown all weekend. People-watching is free, but registration to attend panels and other parts of the event varies by day.
  • Unplugged in the Park: Park Tavern hosts free concerts every Sunday, this week featuring the Stooges Brass Band. (continues through June 8)
  • Decatur Arts Festival: This free annual event will take over downtown Decatur and surrounding venues both Saturday and Sunday.
  • Decatur Concerts on the Square: Downtown Decatur will also host its weekly free concert on the square, this week featuring local cover artist Troy Cono Band. (continues through May)
  • Mall of Georgia Movies Under the Stars: For the OTP crowd, the Mall of Georgia hosts outdoor movies all summer. This weekend will feature. Despicable Me 2. (continues through July 26)
  • Brew with a View: For those of legal drinking age, this free event on the Marietta Square gives you a view of the suburb’s historic downtown area from the Strand Theatre’s rooftop. (continues through June 6)
