Professor Emanuele MassettiProfessor Emanuele Massetti joins the School of Public Policy in the Ivan Allen College at Georgia Tech after spending ten years as Senior Researcher at the Sustainable Development Unit of Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM). Dr. Massetti is a CESifo Research Network member and Research Affiliate at the Euro-Mediterranean Centre for Climate Change (CMCC).
Massetti holds a PhD in Economics from Catholic University of Milan, a MSc in Economics from University College London and a MA in Economics from Brown University. From 2011 to 2013 he was Postdoctoral Fellow at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and from 2011 to 2014 a Lead Author for the Working Group III of the Fifth Assessment Report of the IPCC.
Professor Massetti’s main research interests are in Environmental, Energy and Agricultural Economics. He has extensively published in energy and environmental economics journals and has presented his research at major environmental economics conferences and workshops. In order to reach out to the general public he has written policy briefs and short commentaries and has briefed European and other senior policy makers.
His research agenda spans all dimensions of climate change policy: mitigation, adaptation, and impact research. Emanuele is one of the authors of WITCH, an Integrated Assessment Model to study optimal climate mitigation policies. More recent work deals with methods to estimate the economic impact of climate change and to study efficient adaptation strategies, especially in agriculture.
Professor Massetti managed two large European research projects and he has actively contributed to many others. He was recipient of the Marie Curie international fellowship for the years 2011-2014, the Oddone Fantini B.A. Thesis Award and the Marco Fanno Fellowship for studies abroad. He has worked as consultant for the EBRD, the OECD, the UNDP and the UNEP.
